Why I Created the Alignment Activator

It’s easy to get lost in the grind of work, feeling disconnected from the very things that once inspired us. Whether you’re an individual striving to find meaning in your career or an organization seeking to bring out the best in your teams, there’s one critical element that underpins long-term success: alignment.
Why I Started the Alignment Activator
My journey to creating the Alignment Activator started with my personal struggle. In 2012, after a difficult divorce, I became a single parent determined to build a better future for my children. I worked in customer service for seven years, helping others solve their problems while feeling increasingly disconnected from the life I wanted to live.
Every day, I felt more stuck.
After spending years working in industries that didn’t fully leverage my strengths, and it left me drained and unfulfilled, I found myself asking, Is this it? In 2014, I made a bold career change into instructional design, finally tapping into my creativity, interest in technology and passion for teaching. That move reignited my sense of purpose. As a trainer, I found immense fulfillment in helping others grow and develop in their careers.
But my journey didn’t stop there.
In 2020, I became a certified career coach with GetFive, wanting to help others who, like me, needed a change. I also self-published my first book in 2022, sharing my story to inspire others to reclaim their career paths. The process was empowering and validated my passion for guiding others.
By 2023, I leaned further into writing, creating a Medium account and earning money from my stories within six months. That experience changed everything, proving the power of alignment between who you are and what you do.
The Seed of an Idea
As I began writing about my experiences with career misalignment, I realized that this wasn’t just an individual problem—it was an organizational issue, too. I saw how misalignment affected people and teams alike, leading to disengagement, burnout, and a lack of purpose. I knew something had to change—not just for me, but for others facing similar struggles.
That’s when I started exploring the intersection of Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology, Training, and Instructional Design. I recognized that alignment—between individual strengths and career goals, and between organizations and their teams—was the key to transformation. But there was a lack of guidance for those who needed it most: professionals stuck in career ruts and organizations struggling with disengaged teams.
With my background in Training and Instructional Design, I knew I could create frameworks and programs that would bring this concept to life. By blending the principles of psychology, learning science, and organizational development, The Alignment Activator was born—an approach designed to help people and organizations thrive through the power of alignment.
